In a presentation at the Bank for International Settlements Innovation Summit on Tuesday, the crypto skeptic Lagarde said that European financial authorities had seen the “volumes of rubles into stable, into cryptos, at the moment [is at] the highest level that we have seen since maybe 2021.”
Russians are running to crypto to avoid the implications of the decline of the Ruble against the dollar, no doubt about it. This isn’t an isolated incident either, people all around the world with collapsing third-world currencies are running towards crypto to avoid negative implications that the decline could have on them too.
I see many people opposed to this fact, which is strange. Seeing as how most people support the usage of crypto for privacy, and liberty in transactions. If it’s fair for Americans, then it so should be for the people of Russia as well.
Isn’t that the whole point of cryptocurrency anyway?
I think this is only proving the legitimacy of crypto in the long-run, as ‘real’ world currencies keep crashing
